We are encouraged to do all things "in love." We are told to speak the truth "in love." Before inflicting distress on others, it is wise for us to examine our hearts and motivations. Your point is well taken that any consequences given to someone else should be given with the goal of helping those who harm others not just forcing them to change, but it takes wisdom to "cancel" in a way that does not make us guilty ourselves.

Cancellations of this nature are the result of momentary lapses of reason, both on the part of the victim and those persecuting them. Under more thoughtful and lengthy circumstances, most of these situations can be easily resolved.
