This is beautiful, Amy. Or as I like to say, That’ll preach! “Day shall come again” is a refrain that reeks of John’s Gospel, especially chapters 14—16.

This moment from Hurin has always been one of my favorites in all of Tolkien’s writings. His frequent theme of striving against darkness in the face of likely or sometimes certain defeat is so moving. It’s heartening to read someone else’s similar appreciation.

Clement of Alexandria once said, "The Lord has turned all our sunsets into sunrises." These are words of hope in troubled times. And our Lord Jesus also reminds us that "in this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world." "Overcome" can also be translated as understood. Our Lord understands. He knows all about our troubles, and He gives us His grace and strength to endure and ultimately overcome.
